CAR USE

The hirer shall take care of the car and not allow it to be used:

1. to carry persons in excess of the number stated on the licence
2. to carry persons or goods/merchandise for the hire
3. to propel or tow any other vehicle
4. in any race or contest
5. while customer/driver is under alcoholic/drugs influence
6. in contravention of police / traffic regulations
7. by any other person not authorised and designated by the contract
8. when a cyclone warning class 3 or 4 is in force.

CAR CONDITIONS

The car is delivered in perfect working order and clean condition.

The vehicle shall be returned in the same conditions of neatness failing which Hire shall bear the cleaning costs. The five tires are in fair condition without cuts. In case of damage for a reason other than normal wear and tear, Hirer agrees to replace them by tires of the same size.

It is the customer’s responsibility to properly verify the vehicle upon delivery & return.

All personal belonging must be removed upon returning of contract car. CARHIVE will not be held responsible for the loss of any personal belongings left in the vehicle.

INSURANCE

Our vehicles are covered by a fully paid comprehensive insurance policy. However in case of accident damage or loss of personal equipment, the hirer is responsible for the first Rs30,000.

Damages caused to the top and bottom of the vehicle, as well as, inside deteriorations, e.g., burnt parts is at renter’s charge. All repairs arising from abnormal wear and tear due to lack of care on the part of the renter, for e.g., damage to equipment (rim, wheel cover, triangle, exterior mirror, wheel-spanner, lifting jack, fire extinguisher, rubber mat, etc.) and tires are not covered by the insurance and are at the responsibility of the renter.

In case of accident, if the driver is under influence of alcohol/drugs, 100% cost of damage of the vehicle will have to be paid by the renter.

DRIVING LICENSE 

All drivers must be nominated on the rental agreement and produce a valid driving license.

Drivers must be at least 25 years old and should possess a driving license of at least 5 years old.

DELIVERY/ COLLECTION

• Vehicles are normally delivered and collected at our office. Deliveries and collections can also be done throughout the island at an extra fee at prevailing rate.

RENTAL DURATION

The rental is on a 24hr basis. Extensions must be notified at least 12 hrs before the scheduled collection time and should be approved by the CARHIVE, depending on availability. If the company has not approved or been informed, the rental agreement will end at the date and time stipulated on the contract.

REFUELLING

Petrol used is at the renter’s charge. Upon delivery, the level of petrol will be noted and the renter should return the vehicle with the same level. In case at time of collection the level of the petrol is less than delivered, the cost of fuel will be charged. However, exceeding the level delivered will not be refunded.

FINE

Payment of fines to the police authority is at renter’s responsibility. Illegal parking results in clamping of wheels of the vehicle. Wearing of seat belts & breathalyzer are in force in Mauritius.

Children under 12 years should not be admitted into the front seat.

Speed cameras are in different regions of the country and exceeding speed limit will be liable to a fine.

CYCLONE

The renter is not authorized to use the vehicle when a cyclone warning class 3 or 4 prevails.

If damage or accident occurs while driving during a cyclone warning class 3 or 4, 100% cost of damage of the vehicle will have to be paid by the renter.

ACCIDENTS

All accidents, even the slightest must be reported immediately to the office on +230 5255 9155 or via Whatsapp on +230 5255 9155 and to the nearest Police Station within the next 2 hours.

JURISDICTION

Any and all disputed which might arise between the company and the renter shall fall with the exclusive jurisdiction of courts of Mauritius. All costs will be at the renter’s charge.
